Good Web Hosting?

Does anyone know a good website host? I want to find a good free one. It would also be great if it were easy to design the page.

The most important thing is that the domain name is just like MYNAME.com like not THEWESBITE.MYNAME.com. Does that make sense? Thanks!

Good Web Hosting?

Your question makes sense but one of the drawbacks of free webhosting is you don%26#039;t get to use your own domain name - it costs to register a domain name that%26#039;s why you don%26#039;t get one with the free sites.

Here%26#039;s an answer I provided to a similar question, it might help you...

There%26#039;s several places you can get a free website including from Yahoo (their service is called Geocities).

If you%26#039;re serious about creating a website and want one that looks professional then I wouldn%26#039;t consider a free site, there are many paid for sites that need only cost you a few dollars a month.

Here%26#039;s some of the things to consider about free sites...

-- 1 --

You%26#039;re often restricted in the type of files you can have, some sites don%26#039;t allow MP3%26#039;s or video files for example.

-- 2 --

There%26#039;s usually a bandwidth limit (this is the amount of data that%26#039;s downloaded). It normally doesn%26#039;t take long to reach the bandwidth limit and when this happens the site becomes unavailable - you%26#039;ve probably come across such sites yourself. The bandwidth limit is often hourly and also monthly. If you hit your hourly limit your site will be down for about an hour but if you hit your monthly limit if could be down for days or even weeks.

-- 3 --

Most free sites have a limit to the amount of space you have to store your site. Large files such as music and video will very quickly fill the space. Simple text pages don%26#039;t use much space but when you start adding a few graphics this can soon add up.

-- 4 --

There%26#039;s rarely any technical support with free sites other than user forums. If something goes wrong it%26#039;s up to you to sort it out.

-- 5 --

Some copmpanies that provide free sites are %26#039;here today and gone tomorrow%26#039; - just what you need if you%26#039;ve spent ages designing a nice site. Others are initially free but then state you have to pay or your site will be deleted. To avoid this stick with the well known and established names such as Tripod/Lycos and Yahoo/Geocities.

-- 6 --

Free sites are often limited in what you can do, a lot won%26#039;t support PSP or MySql, some don%26#039;t even support Java. Could mean that features such as forums, blogs, guestbooks etc aren%26#039;t possible on your site.

-- 7 --

A free site has to pay for itself somehow, no company is going to give away webspace without getting something in return. One common practice is to place adverts on your site. Sometimes these ads are themed and related to your site but other times they%26#039;re completely unrelated.

-- 8 --

Often the site isn%26#039;t transferable except to a paid for service provided by the same company. This can be a serious problem if your site becomes popular and you need to move it somewhere that can accomodate your growing needs.

-- 9 --

Often any extras are hugely expensive, if for example you want to buy more data transfer (bandwidth) you could easily be paying $1 per GB. It might not sound a lot but if you%26#039;re also paying for more web storage space and access to certain tools it will work out far more expensive than having a paid-for site.

-- 10 --

You won%26#039;t get your own domain name so instead of having xyzcompany.com you%26#039;ll have something like freewebhostingcompany/xyzcompany.com.

-- FREE SITES --

If you still want a free website then this page here... http://www.free-webhosts.com/search-webh... is an excellent resource as it compares no less than 545 different free webhosts complete with reviews and user comments for each one.

Here%26#039;s some links to the 4 most popular free webhosts...

Lycos Tripod (CNet rating 9 out of 10)

Lycos Angelfire (CNet rating 6 out of 10)

Yahoo Geocities (CNet rating 8 out of 10)

-- PERSONAL RECOMENDATION --

If you want a decent site with a wide range of tools and virtually no restirictions then go for a paid one. They%26#039;re not expensive and you%26#039;ll have infinitely more flexibility to design and expand your site.

1 and 1 is the world%26#039;s number one webhosting company where you can get a site for as little as 鎷?.99 a month (they%26#039;re UK based so it%26#039;s about $3.50 a month)

http://order.1and1.co.uk/

Yahoo is the largest US and Canadian webhost and their starter package is $8.96 a month.

Personally I%26#039;d go with Yahoo - I have lots of sites with them and have never had any major problems.

Hope this helps and good luck in designing your site.

Good Web Hosting?

For a free host try Bravenet.com. The problem with free web hosts is that you usually have to have ads or banners on your site. If that bothers you, than it%26#039;s better to spend a few dollars a month for your web host. GoDaddy and Hypermart are reasonable.

Other Replys:You are not likely to find free domain registration on any free host. The only one I%26#039;ve found is this:

http://www.nameseek.com/Free-Domain-Regi...

But there are some catches. You have to display their search bar in your pages, and they can place ads. (But then, so do most free hosts) I%26#039;ve not used them so I don%26#039;t know if they%26#039;re really any good.

Most will only do free registration if you pay for hosting. So basically, you%26#039;re probably going to have to have a subdomain.

Otherwise, there are plenty of free web hosts out there. Hell, Yahoo Geocities is even okay.

Other Replys:Youname.com domains will cost you about $6 per year.

If you are serious about creating websites for your business, don%26#039;t go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

Visit Following webhosting , they are quite good.

Hostmonster http://anurl.com/?PQMRY

By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.

Domains

Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

IPOWER http://anurl.com/?TXIBE

Other Replys:Try this site as well. They have a list of very good web hosts and most are pretty cheap. You should be able to find what your looking for there.

Other Replys:http://www.getawebpage.net

That webpage lists the top 10 web hosting companies. Either one of their top 3 recommendations would work fine for you.

Other Replys:Hi,

Sorry there is no where in the world you can get a free domain name (yourname.com) but there is this great company that sells domains at wholesale price and they also have a page designer which makes it very easy to design your pages. Even though you pay a little bit I don%26#039;t think you will regret it.
